Skiing at Kronplatz
History: Even before World War I, there were ambitions to bring Kronplatz closer to the town of Brunico. Due to the poor economic situation during war times, this plan could not be realised. Yet, the idea was not buried and was initiated on 19th of January 1938, when the construction of a cable car was commissioned. Unfortunately the financial funds were not sufficient and the initial euphoria soon wore off.
The project was resumed and realised during the 50's. During the following years and decades, it was possible to add one cable car after the other despite continuous financial difficulties. The financial distress eased off during the course of the 70's, and the continuous improvement of the ski resort has brought about today's result – the number one ski resort in South Tyrol.
