Mountain-biking to Val di Landro Valley – Prato Piazza – Monte Specie
The tour starts in Villabassa and leads from here on path no. 27 in the direction of Dobbiaco to the Rienza River. This is probably one of the most beautiful mountain-bike tours in the Dolomites.
From here you get to the Val di Landro Valley past Dobbiaco Lake. The flat route through the valley leads along the cross-country track and along the old railway line Dobbiaco-Cortina. The last section starting from Landro Lake follows the river to Carbonin. After Carbonin you turn right onto forest path no. 3. The easy ascent to Prato Piazza offers a splendid view of the surrounding Dolomites. Monte Specie, which you will reach after 200 metres of difference in altitude, offers an even more beautiful view. Once you are back at Prato Piazza you cycle on a flat forest path to Hotel Plätzwiese.
The following downhill asphalt road can be shortened several times on path no. 37. Once you reach the Brückele Guesthouse you leave the valley on an asphalt road. A last short ascent brings you back to Villabassa in the Puster Valley. This impressive tour in the Dolomites is not suitable for beginners.
